Kriss Kringle

Kriss Kringle Poem By Thomas Bailey Aldrich! Filling stockings at Christmastime is one of the traditions of Santa Claus. In this lovable vacation poem, he additionally leaves a candy shock for the birds, a shock to be loved by means of anyone on Christmas morning. Thomas Bailey Aldrich (1836-1907) wrote brief stories, novels, and poems. He appreciated to use sudden endings in his quick stories.

Kriss Kringle

Just as the moon was fading
Amid her misty rings,
And every stocking was stuffed
With childhood’s precious things,

Old Kriss Kringle looked around,
And saw on the elm-tree bough,
High hung, an oriole’s nest,
Lonely and empty now.

“Quite a stocking,” he laughed,
“Hung up there on a tree!
I didn’t suppose the birds
Expected a present from me!”

Then old Kriss Kringle, who loves
A joke as well as the best,
Dropped a handful of snowflakes
Into the oriole’s empty nest.

Butterfly And Its Cocoon Short Motivational Story

One beautiful afternoon, a young man was taking a stroll around his garden when he noticed a cocoon of a butterfly on a leaf. Thrilled to see an amazing transformation of nature, he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through a little hole of its cocoon.

After a while, the butterfly seemed to stop making any progress. It was struggling so hard to get out! It looked like it couldn’t break free! It looked desperate! It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further.

The kind-hearted man decided to help the butterfly. He got a pair of scissors and tweaked the cocoon to make a larger opening for the butterfly. The butterfly emerged easily without any struggle.  But unlike any other butterflies in his garden,  it had a swollen body with small and withered wings.

The man was happy that he made the butterfly come out of its cocoon without much struggle. He continued to watch the butterfly expecting that, at any moment, the wings would dry out, enlarge and expand to support the swollen body, which would contract in time.

Unfortunately, neither its wings expanded nor the swollen body reduced.  The butterfly crawled around with shriveled wings and swollen body, never able to fly all through its life.

Although with good intention the man hindered the growth of the butterfly. The continuous effort from the butterfly to come out of its cocoon would force out the fluid stored in the body to convert it into the wings. What the man, in haste to help the butterfly,  did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle were the keys to the butterfly’s beautiful body and wings.

Sometimes struggles and challenges are exactly what we need to grow in our lives. Like, the struggle to get out of the cocoon gives butterflies its beautiful wings, struggles in our life make us stronger and give us wings to fly.

Two Frogs And A Challenge Short Motivational Story

A group of frogs was hopping around in one fine afternoon while two of them suddenly fell into a pit. When the other frogs at the top saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that it would be impossible for them to come out of it. For a while, both the frogs ignored the comments and tried with all their might to jump out of the pit. The other frogs kept telling them that their attempts are of no good and they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the frogs outside the pit were saying and gave up. It fell deeper down the pit and met his death.

The other frog continued his attempt to jump out of the pit. Once again, the other frogs yelled at it to stop the pain and accept his death. He tried even harder and finally jumped out of the pit. Every other frog was amazed when he got out of the pit. “ Did you not hear us?”, asked one of the frogs. One of the other frogs explained that the frog who won over, his battle with death was actually deaf. The deaf frog smiled and said, “ thank you, my friends. I couldn’t have come out of the pit without you encouraging and cheering me all the time while  I was in it”

Moral: Words are a very powerful weapon. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Words have the potential to produce positive or negative consequences. Words have catalyzed and stirred the nations into revolution and triumph, and with a single word, the nations have succumbed to nothing. However, one good, edifying word brings joy and hope to those who need it most. So be careful of what you speak. Speak life to those who cross your path.

The Hospital Window Short Motivational Story

There were two men, both seriously ill, who shared the same hospital room. One man got a seat next to the room’s only window. The man was also allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help him drain fluids from his lungs.  The other man had to spend all his time lying flat on his back.

The two roommates quickly bonded and started talking for hours on end. They talked about their lives, their job,  children, and wives. One day the man on the other side of the window, expressed how he envied the man near the window. From that day the man near the window started describing all the things he could see outside the window.

The window overlooked a lovely park with a lake. Ducks played on the lake while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. The man on the other bed began to live for those one hour where he could hear and visualize the world outside the hospital room. The one hour of every day would broaden broadened his world and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

One fine afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.  Although the other man could not hear the band, he could visualize it as the man by the window vividly described.

Days and weeks passed by.

One morning, a nurse arrived to examine the condition of the two patients. She found the lifeless body of the man by the window. The man had peacefully embraced his death in his sleep.  The nurse sadly called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

The other man grieved the death of his roommate.  But, as the day passed by he started missing the way his roommate described the view out of the window. In the hope to have a peek out of the window and the beautiful world outside, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window.  The nurse happily made the switch. As soon as he was comfortable in his new bed, the man slowly and painfully propped himself to take his first look at the world outside. The nurse delightfully watched as the man attempted to sit on the bed after weeks.  But as he strained to slowly turn to look out of the window beside him. He was stunned to see a blank wall outside the window.  The agitate man asked the nurse what could have made his roommate lie about the view outside the window.

“There is nothing to see from here.  Where are all the wonderful things he saw? He described everything so vividly.  Is this a new and recent wall?  Why did he give me such vivid details that don’t exist?” He asked

The nurse shook her head and answered his questions,  “Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you and make you happy.  You see, your roommate was totally blind”.

Egg, Carrot And Coffee Beans Short Motivational Story

A young woman struggling with life went to her mother and told her how her life was miserable and hard for her.  She was tired of fighting and struggling with her problems and wanted to give up.

Her mother, without saying much, took the young lady to the kitchen.  She filled three pots with water.  In the first pot, she placed carrots, in the second one she placed eggs, and in the last she placed some ground coffee beans.

She let them sit and boil without saying a word to her daughter. The daughter wondered what her mother was trying to do while she was complaining about her life. After some time the mother turned down the burner, fished the carrots and the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.  Then she ladled the coffee out into a cup.  Turning to her daughter, she asked, “Dear, Tell me what do you see?”. “A Carrot, egg and coffee,” she replied.

“Look closer and feel the carrots,” said the mother.  The daughter noted that they were soft.  The mother then asked her to take an egg and break it. The interior of the egg was hard-boiled. Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face

The daughter then asked, “What does this mean, mother?”

All three items, carrot, egg, and coffee went through the same situation, the boiling water. However, each reacted differently. The carrot was strong, hard, and unrelenting.  However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.  The egg was fragile with the thin outer shell and its liquid interior.  But after being in the boiling water, it hardened its interior.  The ground coffee beans were unique, as it came to the boiling water, it changed the water and gave its incredible aroma.

“What are you?” she asked the daughter.  How do you respond in difficult situations?  Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean? ”

Are you a carrot that seems strong at first, but becomes soft and loses strength in adversity?

Are you an egg that starts with a malleable heart, but hardens with the heat?  Did you have a fluid spirit, but as you struggled with problems, have you become hardened and stiff? Did the problem harden your free spirit?

Or are you like coffee beans? The beans that change the hot water, the adversity, into an aromatic drink. If you are like the coffee beans, when things are at their worst, you will get better and change the situation around you.

When the hours are the darkest and trials are the greatest do you elevate to the next level?

Life is full of ups and downs, but the only thing that truly matters is how we choose to react to situations around us and what we make out of them. Life is all about learning, adapting, and converting all the struggles into something positive.

Two Fishermen Short Motivational Story

One day the two fishermen were fishing in a nearby pond. Both of them were looking forward to having a fresh fish afterward.
They both had packed utensils, cooking accessories, ingredients, and fishing equipment. Once they arrived at the pond, they chose to sit at a distance to hunt for fishes. The first fisherman caught a big and beautiful fish within a few minutes. He was very happy. He then placed the fish in the icebox to retain its freshness. He would cook it whole fish in the noon.
He caught a few more other small fishes after a while. He froze a few fishes to take them back home.
After about an hour of fishing, the first fisherman offered to help the second fisherman. The second man politely declined. And then the second fisherman also caught a large fish. Surprisingly, he threw it back into the pond.
The first man was bewildered by his act. He remained silent as he watched the second man capture many big fishes only to have them thrown back into the water.
The first fisherman, annoyed by this at, retorted, ‘Why are you throwing the fishes back into the water? They were beautiful and big!’
The second fisherman replied, ‘I know they were big, but I don’t have a big pan to cook the big fishes! So I’m looking for a smaller fish that fits my cooking pan!”
The first fisherman was startled by the response. He advised the second fisherman to cut the big fish into pieces to fit them into the small pan.
Many of us are just like the second fisherman. We tend to overlook a handful of opportunities, chances and even fortune that come in our way because we are too stubbornly looking for what we want. We need to learn to capture every opportunity and work it out so that it will fit into our lives perfectly.

The Bamboo Tree Short Motivational Story

A man got frustrated with life. Despite all the hard work and effort, failure was all that he learnt.  Feeling defeated with life, he left everything and exiled himself in the woods. There he met a Hermit. The disappointed man shared is failure with the hermit. “Give me one good reason not to quit?”- He pleaded the Hermit

“Look”, the hermit said, pointing towards two plants. “Do you see that fern and bamboo there?

“Yes”, the man nodded.

“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them water, light and fertilizer. Within a short period of time the fern quickly grew from the earth”, the hermit continued.

“But despite the Bamboo seed being watered and nurtured for years, it did not outwardly grow as much as an inch. In fact, nothing at all happened in the first year. There was no sign of growth.  But, I did not give up on the Bamboo seed and continued to water and nurture it.  By the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. And within six months, the tree grew a hundred feet tall.”

“So, did the bamboo tree lie dormant for four years only to grow exponentially in the fifth?” the hermit asked.  Baffled by the question the man kept quiet.  “The answer is quite obvious. The little tree was growing underground, developing a root system strong enough to support its potential for outward growth in the fifth year and beyond. Had the tree not developed a strong foundation, it would not have sustained its life as it grew.

“Did you know that all the time you had been struggling, you were growing strong roots”, remarked the hermit

The man learned his lesson that day. He learned the value of persistence and hard work. The fern and the bamboo stood right in front of him as he walked towards his life to continue to work on his dreams.
